All of your views about homeschooling are acceptable to me. However, since DECS is not strict in regulating these, it's quite scary to find a really credible home school curriculum. You might find one that has a good name, deceiving at times. But the provider is not really an educator himself. Might even be violating the copyright of another homeschool.

I believe home schools operate with a regular schools to support them. This speaks of financial sharing, as long as the school is paid, it wouldn't mind the curriculum, materials and system the HS provider is using.

In my opinion, I wouldn't exchange a very good education coming from a very credible school in the country to a home school curriculum.

Kids need the stress, it's through it they mature, learn to prioritize things and not take things for granted. The routines like waking up early studying for homeworks are for the discipline they would need when we are already not with them.

Dealings with other school children their age would be very valuable for them, they learn to interact, get along with them in finishing a common task. How would a child learn to lead if he wouldn't experience to be a chair or a leader in class? How would he conquer the anxiety of speaking in public if he is not used to speaking in class? And how about some notes from how others were? They tend to compare themselves with others and then ask the parents if what the classmate is doing is right.

The home could give support on the child's dealings with homeworks...certain projects, and some problems encountered at school.

It's ok to home school if you'll be doing it at a regular time, same time each day or if you mimic a classroom set up.....I know home schooled kids and one of them is of the same age as my kid, there's a big difference in ability. My kid has learned more from the school but the home schooled kid is only up to date with some computer games.

Probably the mom is not doing well enough, knowing the mom, she herself is not also a disciplined person. I heard they are doing lessons even around 2am! Turned on tv, radio, wouldn't help in teaching the child to focus.

Be careful in choosing your homeschool providers. Make sure they are credible. Remember the children are the future of this society and we need to rear them in accordance to how the society would need them.

The future wouldn't be too friendly, the kids if we really love them, should learn how to deal with stress and problems. Struggles are their opportunities. Who grows in success without effort anyways?

By the way, I think the ultimate test is, make a home schooled child go to a traditional school and make a traditional school goer experience homeschooling...compare who would be able to adjust well.

Thanks for this blog.

My sisters, cousins and I were all homeschooled for high school. Before that, we went to a small school run by the family so we've basically been taught by family our whole lives. I have to say, we all are big fans of homeschool! :) We all have jobs or are in college now, and we're so thankful for all the labor our parents put into educating us.

As to socialization, what better group to hang out with than your own family? :) And as to non-family friends, we've never had any problems making - and keeping - them either. :)

Hi there,
I also have decided to homeschool my child. I want to spare him all the stress that going to a traditional school brings. Thankfully, my hubby has said yes to an experimental one year. It wasn't easy to convince him as he is an educator. Please pray for us! Thanks!
Btw, I love your blog(s)!
